1. free-formaldehyde (impurity)

immediate limit to <5ppm (0.0005%) in babies/children formulated products 

2. Cyclomethicone D4 

Banned 

3. Cyclomethicone D5 

STARTING FROM 2017 NPDs: 

restricted to max 0.1% in rinse off products

BUs to track concerned rinse-off stocks as REACH restriction expectec by 2018 

 

4. Oak moss & tree moss in fragrance 

starting from 2014 NPDs : allowed only fragrance is free of Atranol / Chloratranol 

5. Microplastic beads in exfoliating / scrub (rinse -off)  cosmetics

Banned starting from jan 2017 in exfoliating / scrubbing cosmetics (no stocks allowed to be found in stores) 

6. BMHCA (Lilial) 

Butylphenyl methylpropional 

starting from 2017 NPDs: we strongly recommended replacing whenever possible 

7. Vitamin A (RETINOL, Retinyl palmiate, and retinyl acetate) 

starting fro 2017 NPDs:

max 0.05% in body lotion 

max 0.3% in leave-on (other than body lotions) 

max 0.3% hand/face cream

max 0.3% in rinse-off

8. alpha-arbutin 

starting fro 2017 NPDs:

max 2% in face cream

max 0.5% in body lotion 

9. lyral , HICC (Hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde) 

banned from 2018 NPDs (i.e. with laurch expected in 2019) 

10. Atranol (2,6-dihydroxy-4-methyl-benzaldehyde) 

banned from 2018 NPDs
